Khorne Berserker Squads - WIP 2

Lots more done on these guys.  The metal and the skin.  These pictures actually span a few days of painting.  More metal work is needed to tarnish and some basing.

Kingdom Death Painted Survivors

Group shot! I've painted up quite a few survivors now!  There's still a lot more to do since I've only really done some of the special characters and 1 of each of a few armour sets.  More to come but I like the variability across the ranges and this is what my settlement's last stand would look like!

Khorne Bererker Squads - WIP

So I started (base coated) these back in January  along with a bunch of other stuff which is down now.  I'd been staring at these on top of my shelf for half a year and it became unbearable.   So I took them down and started working on the reds.  It's taking some time though!  I haven't painted a batch of models in so long!

Kingdom Death - Naked Archer painted

Last cloth guy for a while.  I tried a few poses, one was lining up an arrow for a shot, none of which looked great or realistic, so I settled for this one.  I think it does the job.  I greenstuffed the quiver strap and the bow string too for completeness.

Homemade Leather Travel Gameboard - TAK

So if you've not heard of it, there's a really good set of books by Patrick Rothfuss; the first of which is called The Wise Man's Fear.  I will apologize if anyone reads it because the guy has been writing the 3rd book for what seems like forever and I'm champing at the bit to read it.  You'll have to wait too!  Anyway, in the books the main character learns to play a game called TAK.  It's left vague, but the author and Cheapass Games came up with a rule set for the game (rules here: Cheapass Games).  My wife and I both really liked the book, and I decided to have a go at building my own travel table (it's already been camping!).  Just a side note, this design might work well enough for checkers or chess too, but you'd need smaller squares; maybe it wouldn't be playable at that size?  Not sure, it's TAK not checkers!

Kingdom Death - Intimacy Painted

These two figures come from the Kingdom Death Intimacy story event (so I went with the blond and red hair).  I think these will be used in game when starting survivors get things like scrap swords from events.

Kingdom Death - Intimacy WIP

Here's 3 more Kingdom Death figures! (Yeah this may go on for a while haha).  The two in the background are the Intimacy figures while I wanted to put together a 'naked' archer.  I find an archer is the last guy you start to give armour to, so he should get some play time.  Bows in this game don't have strings so I crafted one from greenstuff.  In addition since he's not wearing a shirt, I couldn't affix the quiver to anything but his back and wanted to add a strap for support.  These should be the last 'cloth' armoured people I paint for a while.

Khorne Blood Slaughterer - Painted

Finished up Forge World's Khorne Blood Slaughterer.  I kept a similar scheme to the rest of my armoured units which is a dark blue-grey while leaving the red to the infantry and daemons.  The contrast is really important to the feel of the army.  I also applied a lot of blood for the blood god to the sharp edges :)

I also noticed I hit 205,000 views last week.  So that's a neat milestone for me!  Though I did have a website for the mods for the original Rainbow Six PC game 15 or so years ago that I think hit 100k which was a pretty big deal in 2000 :)

Khorne Blood Slaughterer WIP

This is a sweet little model.  I tried to pose him so he'd fit on a flying base.  It's a lot of little parts so I had to do it in stages, and prop it up so that it would hold its pose.  Definitely not a model for long road trips but it's unique and it's pretty scary!

Khorne Decimator Painted

Here's my finished Khorne Decimator!  I'm glad I repainted it from the original nurgle colour scheme (more photos here) and made some more subtle little additions.  This is definitely more of a Khorne war machine than Nurgle. It's not easy to see in the photos (I could not get a good angle) but if you look close you can see that I've added a bloodletter mouth/tongue and its horns behind the faceplate.  There are also skulls in a few spots (nothing too overwhelming).
